How to connect laptop to mixer for sound

Yet another setup could use one of these and I'd need a cable with mono 1/4' plugs on both ends, of which we have plenty lying around for instruments. To avoid stressing the laptop's jack I added a right-angle 1/8' adapter to it so the cable isn't sticking straight out of the machine.Īnother setup could use one of these, but I'd need a cable with stereo male 1/8' plugs on both ends. To this we've connected a Y-splitter that changes RCA stereo to RCA mono. For example, we currently have a cable with a male stereo 1/8' plug with red and white female RCA jacks on the other end. We've used various cables and adapters to get the laptop's audio to the mixer. Its output is XLR, so we connect that to an XLR jack in the floor, and that goes back to the mixer.

We have a special A/V direct box that we sometimes use for a VCR or DVD player, so it has a female mono RCA jack and a female mono 1/4' jack. I want to send the audio from that jack to the mixer. At my church we have a laptop with a 1/8' stereo headphone jack.
